Verification explained

Every host is checked before their profile can go live. Here is exactly what that means.

What we ask for

A government-issued ID document (passport, ID card or driving licence) and a selfie taken at the same moment. We compare the two to confirm that the person on the document is the person behind the profile, and that they are 21 or over.

Who reviews it

A person on our team, not an automated score. Reviews usually finish within one working day. If something is unclear we ask for a new photo rather than rejecting the account.

What other people can see

Only that a host is verified. Your documents, legal name, address and date of birth are never shown on your profile and are never shared with the person you meet.

What is not verified

Verification confirms identity and age. It is not a background check and it is not a promise about someone's behaviour, so the advice in the Safety Centre still applies to every first meeting.

Your data

Documents are stored in private, access-controlled storage and are only used for verification and for legal obligations. Details are in the privacy policy.
